Secure document management with Toshiba
Document management isn’t magic.
Copy systems and printers are the central information points in offices. It has become essential for them to comply with the same security regulations as other networked devices in the company, ensuring the reliable protection of documents and data against misuse or theft.

Toshiba has updated its extendable e-STUDIO230/280 document manager series, now featuring the second generation e-BRIDGE Controller to meet increased security requirements.

The new e-STUDIO232/282 systems provide additional functions for simple and rapid operation, underpinned with a high security focus, enabling human resources departments, banking institutions or government authorities to professionally and effectively process confidential documents, via a high-performance, central multifunctional system.

The second generation e-BRIDGE features comprehensive protection for documents - from access control to the assignment of access rights - which are processed with the new Toshiba e-STUDIO systems. Users may require initial authentication prior to sending jobs to the e-STUDIO232/282. The new generation e-BRIDGE system ensures that the passwords required are particularly secure as they are composed of ten alphanumeric digits.

The system administrator can also assign specific rights to individual users - a feature which consistently protects against misuse and at the same time enables all-important cost monitoring, A total of 10,000 users and 1,000 department codes can be defined. To round off the security range, all data buffered in the multifunctional systems can either be saved or reliably deleted through encryption or overwriting.

Extended scope of function:

In addition to the security features, the new e-STUDIO232/282 systems include several improvements for easy and convenient operation, based on the proven functions of the predecessor models.

For example, the reversing automatic document feeder was developed to enable extremely low-noise processing of originals. Even complex copy tasks, including stapling, or folding brochures, can be programmed easily and rapidly implemented via the clear LCD touch panel.

For the first time, the systems include a Proof Copy function - similar to the Proof Print function – for processing a test version after which copy-settings can be adjusted before the main job begins.

With a warm-up time of just 25 seconds, the new systems are able to produce 23/28 DIN A4 b/w copies/printouts per minute. Double-sided printing is also possible, thanks to the integrated Duplex unit and the systems can process varying paper thicknesses up to 209 g/m2 (stack feed bypass). In addition, the new Job Build function enables a combination of various different types of originals in a single copying job – regardless of whether originals are in text or photo quality, or copied from the platen glass or document feeder.

The e-STUDIO232/282 feature various everyday functions which are easy and fast to use. Frequently used processes and settings can be saved as templates and easily accessed via an LCD touch button on the operator panel.

All frequently printed and copied documents can be conveniently stored and saved on the systems’ hard drive for rapid access. Relevant documents are scanned once in optimal digital quality - the systems produce

  • 50 scans per minute with a resolution of 400 dpi
  • 45 scans with a resolution of 600 dpi

and are stored on the hard drive (Copy or Scan to Box),they are then available for reprinting at any time. Furthermore, all print jobs can be sent to the e-STUDIO232/282, stored and initiated later (Print to Box) in order to manage workloads and administer the systems more efficiently.

The new e-STUDIO range models also feature two 550-sheet trays for A5 to A3 formats and a bypass for a further 100 sheets as standard to avoid the time-consuming task of frequently refilling paper. Offices with extremely high paper consumption can extend the systems by opting for two additional trays or a comprehensive 2,500-sheet large capacity feeder, to achieve a total capacity of 3,700 sheets.

The e-STUDIO232/282 are equipped with an Ethernet 10BaseT/100 BaseTX network interface as standard and are compatible with all current network protocols, including wireless LAN basis. The all-in-one systems enable uncomplicated integration into existing networks and can be expanded to include network print, network fax and network scan functions.
